Internet have addictive features that differs from other technologies. While internet spreads fast, internet addiction has started to be seen in psychiatric practice. Internet has several facilities. These facilities may also lead to online gaming, sex, gambling and shopping issues. It is important to evaluate treatment motivation, make a detailed psychiatric examination and detect comorbid disorders in people with internet addiction, who admit alone or taken by their relatives. Several factors like subtypes of internet addiction, treatment motivation, comorbidity, occupation of individuals, expectations of individualsas well as their relatives, affect pharmacological and psychotherapeutic approaches. Internet addiction out-patient clinic that is a department in Bakirkoy Research and Training Hospital for Psychiatry, Neurology and Neurosurgery is the only and first out-patient clinic in a research and training hospital in Turkey. In this workshop, we will be presenting pharmacological treatment and cognitive behavioral therapy of internet addiction in the light of our experiences and literature.
